I wanted to follow up a little more on the theme of the Holy Darkness or the Dark Night of the Soul as it is sometimes called. A Night in which I still find myself. As the song I shared says however, I have learned to ‘embrace the Holy Night’.
It is in the deepest and the darkest place of that night that, unbeknownst to us, the Holy Spirit plants seeds of truth, new things that will be Life to us as we leave this place of darkness and walk in light once again. It is there that He deposits His riches and this is into our spirit, not our soul.
Scanning through some of Elwin Roach’s teachings recently I came upon a heading for a part 3 of a series titled “Mysteries From Darkness”. In light of what I am experiencing (pardon the pun), I decided to read it and see if the Lord would minister to me in it. I’m sure He did, though my mind did not find some new revelation, my spirit found further confirmation and comfort. Here is a link to that article.

If you too are going through a dark night of your own, take heart. It is a passage, or rather a burial, in which we must come to perfect stillness in our spirit. This isn’t punishment and we are certainly not forsaken of God (though it may feel like it on one level). This is a place of transformation into that New Creation which we are in Him.
I have also just read an enlightening and helpful book called ‘Life Out Of Death’ by Jesse Penn-Lewis. This book helps break down the nights of darkness into 4 different degrees. Not to bring the things of God into methods and formulas, but I wanted to mention it should it be helpful to anyone else.
Should you want to share with us something of your experience or a scripture, anything that has ministered to you or you feel may minister to others, please share it with us.
I also mentioned the Dark Night in a previous post called Holy Darkness. If you found this post of interest, you may like to read that post as well.
